On our way home from Bologna, we spent a delightful
day with Krantz in Modena. Although I had lived only 50 kms away for 8 years, I
had never visited it before - mistake. The tourist office featured very funky
mirrored walls and particularly unhelpful staff. We visited the cathedral,
renowned as the finest Romanesque church in Italy, followed by a very pleasant
lunch at the Trattoria Vino et Manovella which included a surprisingly sophisticated
Lambrusco. We then visited the museum housed in Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace and a
magnificent display of Ferraris and Maseratis in the Kaplicky/Morgante designed
gallery.
